A new legal battle is emerging within Cameroonian football as Abdouraman Hamadou Babba announces proceedings over €567,570 linked to the Russia–Cameroon friendly played in Moscow in October 2023.
Abdouraman, president of Étoile Filante de Garoua and a leading figure within the Association of Amateur Football Clubs of Cameroon (ACFAC), says he intends to pursue the matter before Cameroonian and Russian courts, FIFA’s disciplinary commission and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The dispute centres on payments reportedly made by the Russian Football Union following the 2023 friendly. Documents reported by Camfoot and previously examined by international media indicate that €567,570 was involved, with payment instructions reportedly directing the money to a personal account in the name of Samuel Eto’o at Qatar National Bank in Doha rather than directly to a FECAFOOT account. Abdouraman has questioned the handling of the funds and is calling for the matter to be examined by the appropriate authorities. The case follows recent media reports raising questions about the destination and accounting of the money.
