Cameroon’s Telecommunications Regulatory Board (TRB) has given electronic communications operators and service providers until September 30, 2026, to update their information in the country’s national directory.
The regulator says the initiative is aimed at improving transparency and strengthening consumer protection within Cameroon’s rapidly expanding telecommunications and digital-services sector. (Broadcast Media Africa)
According to the TRB, the directory will provide a clearer picture of the companies operating within Cameroon’s communications ecosystem.
It is also expected to help consumers identify licensed and compliant operators and distinguish legitimate service providers from fraudulent or unregulated businesses.
The directory could also assist government institutions in identifying legitimate companies when dealing with telecommunications providers during public procurement processes.
TRB Director General Philemon Zo’o Zame said the initiative is intended to improve confidence in the sector by making it easier to identify operators that comply with regulatory requirements.
Operators and service providers concerned have therefore been urged to complete the required identification process before the September 30 deadline.
The measure comes as Cameroon continues to expand its digital economy, making regulatory oversight increasingly important as more businesses and consumers rely on telecommunications and online services.
