Cameroon’s telecommunications regulator is stepping up discussions with major mobile operators over the quality and availability of telecom services across the country.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) held a high-level working session with the management of MTN Cameroon and Orange Cameroun, focusing on network quality, customer experience, network security and equitable access to telecommunications services nationwide. (Art)
The meeting, chaired by ART Director General Professor Philémon Zoo Zame, brought together MTN Cameroon CEO Wanda Matandela and Orange Cameroun CEO Patrick Benon, alongside their respective teams.
According to the regulator, the discussions examined the quality of services currently provided by the two operators and considered measures already underway or planned to improve network performance and subscribers’ experience. (Art)
Network security and subscriber identification were also discussed, with the authorities and operators expected to continue working together on solutions to strengthen the security of telecommunications infrastructure.
The ART also stressed the importance of extending network coverage to underserved areas in order to reduce the digital divide and ensure wider access to telecommunications services across Cameroon. (Tech Griot)
The discussions come as network reliability and service quality remain important concerns for millions of Cameroonian mobile subscribers.
