Cameroon’s Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) has called on operators and service providers in the electronic communications sector to update their information for inclusion in the country’s 2026 National Directory.
The regulator has set 30 September 2026 as the deadline for concerned operators and service providers to complete the required identification process.
According to ART, the initiative is aimed at updating its database of authorised operators and service providers while improving transparency and traceability across Cameroon’s telecommunications sector.
The directory is expected to provide consumers with reliable information on companies legally authorised to operate in the sector, including details about their offices and service outlets. ART says this will make it easier for users to distinguish legitimate providers from unauthorised or potentially fraudulent operators.
The updated directory will also serve public institutions and other stakeholders seeking to identify recognised telecommunications operators and service providers. ART says the initiative should contribute to greater transparency when institutions engage companies operating in the electronic communications market.
The regulator’s move comes as Cameroon’s telecommunications sector continues to expand, with a growing number of companies providing electronic communications and related services. Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date database is therefore considered important for effective sector oversight and consumer protection.
ART has urged all operators and service providers concerned to submit the requested information before the 30 September 2026 deadline.
Failure to update information within the prescribed period could leave an operator’s details absent or outdated in the regulator’s official directory, potentially affecting how customers, institutions and other stakeholders identify and engage with the company.
The 2026 directory is consequently expected to become an important reference point for consumers, businesses and public authorities seeking to verify the status and identity of operators and service providers active in Cameroon’s electronic communications sector.
