Yaoundé, Cameroon — Cameroon’s telecommunications sector is set for further network expansion following the arrival of 35 containers of telecommunications equipment at CAMTEL’s Zamengoe site.
The equipment is part of CAMTEL’s ongoing programme to strengthen its mobile network and improve connectivity for users across the country.
According to reports, the programme includes the deployment of 245 new radio sites, while 122 existing sites experiencing congestion are expected to receive capacity upgrades.
The initiative also covers improvements to network infrastructure, energy systems and billing platforms, alongside the integration of cloud technologies.
The planned expansion is expected to support connectivity in urban, peri-urban and remote areas, while increasing network capacity as demand for mobile and digital services continues to grow.
The development comes as Cameroon continues to expand its digital infrastructure, with reliable telecommunications increasingly important for businesses, public services, education and everyday communication.
CAMTEL’s network expansion will therefore be closely watched as the company moves from equipment reception to deployment and implementation across the targeted locations.
