DOUALA: MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY POSING AS NGOH NGOH’S SON
Gendarmes in Douala have reportedly arrested a man accused of impersonating the son of Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Cameroon’s Minister of State and Secretary-General at the Presidency.
The suspect, identified as Noussi Franck Claubert, allegedly presented himself as “Lieutenant Franck Ngoh Ngoh” and claimed to be the son of the senior government official.
According to reports, he allegedly used the name and supposed connections to offer people assistance with administrative procedures, reportedly demanding money in exchange for facilitating access to government services.
At least four individuals have reportedly filed complaints, with the total amount allegedly collected from victims estimated at several tens of millions of FCFA.
The complaints reportedly triggered an investigation by the National Gendarmerie, which subsequently led to the suspect’s arrest in Douala.
Investigators are continuing their inquiries to establish the full extent of the alleged scheme and determine whether other individuals may have been involved.
The case highlights the risks of identity impersonation and influence-based fraud, particularly where fraudsters exploit the names of senior public officials to convince victims that they have privileged access to government institutions.
