African cities are often discussed through population figures, but numbers do not fully describe how urban culture is made. It emerges in transport corridors, markets, neighbourhood studios, street fashion, food stalls, radio, and informal gathering places.
Movement is part of the creative process. People carry sounds, recipes, languages, and business ideas between regions. The result is not a single urban culture but a collection of local experiments that continue to change.
