Veteran Nigerian actor Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.
His family confirmed his passing on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, through a statement shared by his son, Olusoji Jacobs. The family described him as “The Lion of Lufodo” and asked bloggers and social-media users to respect their privacy as they mourn. (EasternEye)

The family has not disclosed an immediate medical cause of death. However, Olu Jacobs had experienced significant health challenges in his later years.
His wife, veteran actress Joke Silva, revealed in 2021 that the actor had been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, a progressive neurological condition that can affect memory, thinking, movement and other aspects of functioning. (Channels Television)
