Yaoundé became a meeting point for Cameroon’s technology and open-source community as PyCon Cameroon 2026 was held from September 17 to 19, 2026.
The three-day event, listed on the official Python events calendar, marked Cameroon’s first national PyCon, bringing the Python community together for learning, technical discussions, practical workshops and networking. (Python.org)
The conference focused on the growing use of Python across areas including software development, artificial intelligence, data science, web development, DevOps and open-source technologies. Python Cameroon also highlighted career development, including a masterclass focused on jobs and early-career success, aimed particularly at students, self-taught developers and early-stage engineers. The 2026 edition also featured UbuCon Cameroon, bringing the Python and Ubuntu/open-source communities together in Yaoundé.
