MRC Enters New Era After Kamto and Mota Resign
The Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) has entered a new phase following the resignation of its national president, Maurice Kamto, and First Vice-President Mamadou Mota on September 8, 2026.
Kamto announced his resignation from the leadership of the party, citing the “higher interest” of the MRC, its militants and supporters. Mota also stepped down shortly afterwards.
Following the departures, Tiriane Balbine Nadège Noah, who previously served as Second Vice-President, was called upon to lead the party on an interim basis.
The MRC is expected to hold an elective convention on October 10, 2026, where a new leadership is expected to be chosen.
The leadership change comes at a critical moment for one of Cameroon’s major opposition parties, with questions now surrounding its internal unity, future direction and political strategy.
