🚨 TRAGEDY IN THE NORTHWEST
Two sisters have reportedly died after being swept away by a landslide in Tinifoinmbi, Njinikom Subdivision, Boyo Division of the Northwest Region, on Tuesday evening, September 15, 2026.
According to reports from the area, the sisters were returning from their farm when a portion of soil suddenly detached from a slope and swept them away. Several houses were also reportedly affected by the landslide.
The incident has raised concern among residents, particularly those living close to slopes considered vulnerable to landslides.
The Boyo Division and other mountainous parts of the Northwest have experienced landslides and road disruptions during periods of heavy rainfall. Recent reporting has also highlighted landslide-prone areas around Njinikom and Fundong.
The incident comes as Cameroon remains under heightened weather vigilance. An alert issued on September 15 warned of increased risks associated with heavy rainfall, including landslides and flooding, in several parts of the country.
The full extent of the material damage at Tinifoinmbi and further details concerning the victims are still being assessed.
